Eine Augenarztpraxis auf extrem kleinem Raum unterzubringen birgt zahlreiche Herausforderungen. Nicht nur die tatsächliche Platznot, sondern auch die gefühlte Enge in diesem Kölner Altbau forderten eine komplette Überarbeitung der Gegebenheiten: Decken und Wände wurden als Stauräume genutzt, Arbeitsprozesse zusammengefasst und öffentliche von privaten Zonen differenziert. Diese klare Strukturierung von Flächen erlaubt ein hohes Maß an Transparenz und schafft ein fließendes Raumkontinuum, während die glänzend lackierten Decken die Zimmer auch nach oben hin zu öffnen scheinen. Behandlungs-, Sprech- und Wartebereiche überraschen so mit einer hellen wie frischen Gesamtwirkung. Dank der radikalen Reduktion störender Reize kehrt optische Ruhe ein und ein besonderer ästhetischer Effekt entsteht: Ähnlich wie in einem White Cube treten Kunstwerke plastisch hervor und werden sinnlich erfahrbar.
