In the second courtyard of a Wilhelminian block in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin, three small townhouses with accompanying gardens have been created as an extension of the rental stock. As part of the construction measures, facades, balconies and stairwells of the historical structure have been completely renovated and two lifts added on. Moreover, a new roof replaces the old in order to gain space here for four flats with 2-3 rooms each. The generous roof terraces are accessible directly from the living room using steps. A colour concept in warm grey-tones ensures a modern exterior. The 105 sq. metre townhouses are organised vertically: the ground floor houses a generous cooking and living area, while on the first and second floor we find the bedrooms and bathrooms; moreover, the second floor gives access to a terrace as wide as the building. Loft apartments and townhouses are provided with floor heating and top-quality parquet floors, and in the bathrooms, above-average amenities are ensured by solid fittings and sanitary items.
